Question & answer

Does the Ninja Crispi Have a Microwave? Only the MW101 Does

Only one does. The Ninja Crispi Microwave MW101, launched on 16 July 2026, is a real microwave. The FN101 and AS101 are glass air fryers that can't microwave. The name is shared, the function is not, so read the model number before you buy.

The short answer

Only one does. The Ninja Crispi Microwave MW101, launched on 16 July 2026, microwaves food. The FN101 and AS101 are glass air fryers without that part. Their glass containers are microwave-safe, which means the glass can go into a microwave you already own, not that the air fryer is a microwave. Check the model number before you buy.

What is on this page

"Ninja Crispi" is two product families under one name, and that trips up shoppers and AI answers alike. Ask an assistant whether the Ninja Crispi has a microwave and it may simply say yes. If you own an FN101, that answer is wrong for you.

How do I tell them apart?

ModelWhat it isCan it microwave?
Ninja Crispi Microwave MW101Countertop microwave with air fryYes
Ninja Crispi FN101Glass air fryerNo
Ninja Crispi Pro AS101Glass air fryerNo
Ninja CRISPi DualZoneGlass air fryer with two zones, per NinjaNot described as a microwave

The quickest test is the model number. MW101, including color versions such as MW101BK1, means microwave. If the listing says FN101 or AS101, or calls itself a glass air fryer, it's an air fryer. The Ninja Crispi Glass FN101* is the one people most often mix up with the microwave.

The timeline settles it too. SharkNinja's release of 16 July 2026 calls the MW101 the brand's first-ever countertop microwave. So any Crispi from before that date can't be one.

Why does "microwave-safe" confuse people?

Listings for the glass air fryers say their containers are microwave-safe. That describes the glass, not the machine. You can take the container off the air fryer and warm leftovers in a microwave you already own. The air fryer itself can't do that, because it has no part that makes microwaves.

What are the MW101's numbers?

These come from Ninja or from listings:

  • Microwave: 1000 W as listed.
  • Air fry: 1700 W per Ninja, up to 450°F, with a 5.5 qt glass basket.
  • Size: about 20.3 × 17.5 × 14.1 in as listed. SharkNinja's page couldn't be read directly, and excerpts of it differ slightly.
  • Space around it: no figures we could confirm. Check the owner's guide.

Two of Ninja's claims need their footnotes. "Frozen to crispy" rests on air fry wattage, 1700 W versus 1500 W on the FN101, not on a cooking test. And "40 % more usable surface" is measured against a 0.9 cu ft turntable microwave in the release, while another Ninja text uses 1.1 cu ft. Our Ninja Crispi Microwave page goes through size and fit, and Crispi Microwave versus Crispi air fryer sets the models side by side.

Which one do I need?

  • You want to replace your microwave. Only the MW101 can. Measure the height above your counter first, since 14.1 in as listed is tall for this group. See the size guide and clearance guide.
  • You keep your microwave and want air frying. A glass or basket air fryer can do that. See combo versus basket air fryer, including that no controlled head-to-head test exists.
  • You're not sure one appliance is right at all. Are combos worth it? covers the pros and cons.

Other names to double-check: the Ninja Combi SFP701, Ninja Flip SP151 and Ninja FO101 have no microwave function either. Next step: see the best microwave air fryer combos.

Quick questions

Can I microwave food in my Ninja Crispi FN101?

No. The FN101 is a glass air fryer and can't produce microwaves. Its glass containers are described as microwave-safe, so you can lift a container off and put it in a microwave you already own. Check Ninja's manual for what may go in with it, including any crisper plate.

Is the Ninja Crispi Pro a microwave?

No. The Crispi Pro AS101 is a glass air fryer. The only Ninja Crispi with a microwave function is the MW101 Crispi Microwave, which SharkNinja announced on 16 July 2026 as the brand's first-ever countertop microwave.

Which Ninja Crispi do I need if I want one appliance instead of two?

The MW101, as long as it fits your kitchen. It is the only one that can replace your microwave. It is about 14.1 in tall as listed, and we found no clearance figures for it, so check the owner's guide. If you're keeping your microwave and only want air frying, a glass air fryer or a basket fryer is enough.
