Toshiba Microwave Air Fryer Combo: Which Model to Buy

Most kitchens should buy the Toshiba ML2-EC10SA. It is the 8-in-1 at 1.0 cu ft and 11.8 in tall, says Toshiba. Families with a deep counter can look at the 1.5 cu ft ML-EC42P, the 4-in-1. The other Toshiba combos, including the OptiChef line, are listing data for us, so they are options, not picks.

The short version

Two Toshiba combos have brand data we could read. Buy the ML2-EC10SA for most kitchens: 1.0 cu ft, 1000 W and only 11.8 in tall. Buy the ML-EC42P for a big family: 1.5 cu ft and a 13.6 in turntable, but 21.38 in deep. OptiChef and MASTER models carry listing data only, so check their pages before you buy.

What is on this page

Toshiba's US appliance site is toshiba-lifestyle.com, and its copyright line names Midea America Corp. The combo range is wide and changes quickly, with similar names on different boxes. So read the model number, not the "in-1" count. Our brand overview shows who else sells a true combo.

Which two do you recommend?

ML2-EC10SA, the everyday pick. This is also our best overall. Toshiba says 10 air fry presets, a 12.4 in turntable and a two-step child lock. The weak spot is depth: Toshiba says 18 in and Amazon says 16.4 in, so plan with the bigger number. A third-party summary of the manual lists 3 in of space around it, but we couldn't confirm it. Our clearance guide has the details.

ML-EC42P, the family pick*. The 1.5 cu ft inside and 13.6 in turntable are the biggest among our countertop combos. Toshiba lists an auto moisture and heat sensor plus a mute button. Its page mentions 13 sensor presets but also 7 programs, without explaining the difference. At 21.77 in wide and 21.38 in deep, it takes a real slot of counter and leaves little depth free. Toshiba's page shows the black stainless (BS) finish, and the listing we link is stainless (SS).

What about OptiChef and MASTER?

These names mostly mean inverter models. An inverter gives better control at low power. It is not a promise of even heating.

  • OptiChef PRO MAX*: the biggest of the line at 1.3 cu ft, with a color screen and a 1100 W microwave as listed. Premium price class.
  • OptiChef Pro*: the same listed inside size and height as the ML2-EC10SA, in a higher price class.
  • OptiChef Basic*: 0.9 cu ft and 900 W with 27 auto menus as listed, for small kitchens that prefer Toshiba.
  • MASTER Series inverter*: our price lookup returned nothing, so check that the listing is in stock.
  • MASTER 6-in-1, Renewed*: a renewed unit, not a new one, and 19.5 in wide as listed. Check what warranty applies.

We only have the listing for these, and we say so on each product. See how we compare.

What are the strengths and weak spots?

Why it works

  • Low bodies at 1.0 cu ft and below
  • Sizes on Toshiba's page for the two main models
  • A range from 0.9 to 1.5 cu ft

Where it falls short

  • Confusing names, with in-1 counts that don't track size
  • A depth conflict between Toshiba and Amazon on the ML2-EC10SA
  • No manual read in full by us, so the space it needs and circuit advice stay open

How does it air fry?

We found no published measurement of Toshiba's air fry results. Good Housekeeping's April 2026 roundup says its selected models gave crisp, golden wings and named a Toshiba 7-in-1 most versatile, but it gives no numbers. Whether a combo matches a basket fryer is an open question. See combo versus basket air fryer.

The two Toshiba pages we read don't state warranty terms or list spare parts. Check the listing and the manual, especially for a renewed unit.

Quick questions

Which Toshiba combo should I buy?

For most kitchens, the ML2-EC10SA. It has 1.0 cu ft and a 1000 W microwave at 11.8 in tall, says Toshiba, which sits well below a common 18 in cabinet gap. If you feed a big family and your counter is deep enough, the 1.5 cu ft ML-EC42P is the other Toshiba we recommend.

What is the difference between the Toshiba 4-in-1 and the 8-in-1?

Size more than function. The 4-in-1 ML-EC42P has 1.5 cu ft and a 13.6 in turntable, with an auto moisture and heat sensor, and it is 21.38 in deep. The 8-in-1 ML2-EC10SA has 1.0 cu ft and a 12.4 in turntable, with 10 air fry presets. Both have a 1000 W microwave, says Toshiba. A higher number in the name doesn't mean a bigger appliance.

Is the ML2-EC10SA 16.4 or 18 inches deep?

Toshiba's own page says 18 in, while the Amazon listing says 16.4 in. We don't know why they differ. Plan with the bigger number, since a body deeper than you expected is the mistake that costs you. Measure from the wall to your counter edge before you order.

Is the Toshiba 7-in-1 the same as the 8-in-1?

We can't confirm that. Good Housekeeping named a Toshiba 7-in-1 its most versatile pick, but we couldn't tie that name to one model number, and we found listings with several function counts. Check the model number on the listing against the source you are following.
