PowerXL Microwave Air Fryer Plus: What to Check Before You Buy

Buy a PowerXL Microwave Air Fryer Plus only if you can confirm the model and get the rack and trays. Two versions are easy to mix up: the 1 cu ft, 1000 W BDK02 and the 0.9 cu ft, 900 W Smart BDK04. It did not show up in the Amazon searches behind our comparison.

The short version

Check the model number first. The BDK02 has 1 cu ft and a 1000 W microwave, and the Smart BDK04 has 0.9 cu ft and 900 W. Both manuals ask for 12 in above the unit. The 1-year replacement guarantee in the BDK02 manual covers only the original buyer from an authorized retailer. For a current option, we recommend the Toshiba ML2-EC10SA.

What is on this page

PowerXL is a brand of small kitchen appliances. The manual library now carries a Spectrum Brands footer, and the customer care page uses a Spectrum Brands email address. Use the current customer care page, not the contact details in an old manual.

Which PowerXL is it?

Size inside1 cu ft0.9 cu ft
Microwave power1000 W900 W
TemperatureAir fry 300 to 425°F150 to 450°F

All figures come from the owner's manuals. A BDK03 number also shows up on third-party sites. We did not read that one, so don't assume these figures apply. The BDK02's 1800 W is its air fry rating, not its microwave power, as our guide to microwave wattage explains.

What should I check on an older listing?

  1. Match the model number. Ask for a photo of the rating label. The name "Microwave Air Fryer Plus" could mean either model.
  2. Ask about the guarantee. The BDK02 manual describes a 90-day money-back guarantee and a 1-year replacement guarantee. The replacement guarantee covers only the original buyer from an authorized retailer. You pay the return shipping. On a resale you may get none of this, so ask the seller in writing.
  3. Count the accessories. Check the parts list in the manual against what is in the box. The BDK02 recipes call for the Air Fry Rack, Baking Pan and Glass Tray.
  4. Check the space. Both manuals ask for 3 in on each side, 12 in on top and 3 in at the rear, and say not to use it over a cooktop. One side must be open, and the door front should sit 3 in or more back from the counter edge. Our clearance guide compares other models.
  5. Check your circuit. Read the rating label and the manual. Our page on circuits and amps has the background.

Is it right for me?

Why it works

  • Manuals for both versions are still online
  • A true combo with a microwave and an air fry mode
  • Manual states capacity, input and output for each model

Where it falls short

  • 12 in on top rules out many spots under cabinets
  • No listing in the Amazon searches behind our comparison
  • Parts and current sale status not confirmed

Buy one only if you can get the rack, trays and proof of purchase from a seller you trust. Starting fresh? Pick a model that is easy to buy new.

What should I buy instead?

For the BDK02's size, we recommend the Toshiba ML2-EC10SA*: 1.0 cu ft, 1000 W and a 12.4 in turntable per Toshiba. We only saw its clearance in a third-party summary, so check the printed manual.

For the BDK04's size, look at the Sharp SMC0985KS*, with 0.9 cu ft and 900 W per Sharp's product sheet.

Quick questions

Where can I find the PowerXL Microwave Air Fryer Plus manual?

The PowerXL manual library at useandcaremanuals.com lists a manual and quick start guide for both the BDK02 and the Smart BDK04. Match the model number on your rating label to the right one, because their specs differ.

Can I get replacement parts for a PowerXL microwave air fryer?

PowerXL's site has a Parts and Accessories category, but the page we read does not say which parts fit these models. Contact customer care with your model number before you buy a used unit without its rack or tray.

Is the PowerXL microwave air fryer still sold?

We could not confirm that. The manuals are still online, but that does not mean the product is still made. Ask PowerXL's customer care, and treat any listing as possibly older stock until the seller confirms the model.

Does the PowerXL microwave air fryer fit under a cabinet?

Probably not without care. Both manuals ask for 12 in on top, 3 in on each side and 3 in at the rear, and one side must be open. That top figure uses up most of a common 18 in gap, so measure your space. Don't block the vents.
