Wall Oven Microwave Combo With Air Fry: What to Know Before You Buy
Buy a wall oven microwave combo with air fry only if you are already remodeling. It stacks a microwave above a full oven, needs a cabinet cutout, and the models we could check run on a 240 V circuit. Buy from a dealer who can check your opening. We link none on Amazon. First, find out which of the two oven spaces air fries.

The short version
Treat this as a renovation purchase. These units stack a microwave over a full oven, and the Frigidaire sheet we read asks for a 40 A, 240 V circuit and a 28 1/2 in minimum cutout width. Check which oven space air fries, since LG states both and other sheets do not say. Buy through a dealer. For a plug-in, a countertop combo is simpler.

Search results mix this appliance in with countertop combos, but it is a different purchase. A true microwave air fryer combo has one oven space. A wall oven combo has two, and it becomes part of your cabinets.

What models did we read?
This table holds only what we could read, and it doesn't rank them.
| LG WCEP6423F | Frigidaire Gallery GCWM3067AF | KitchenAid KOEC530PSS | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microwave | 1.7 cu ft, convection | 1.7 cu ft, 1000 W | 1.4 cu ft, 1600 W CrispWave element |
| Oven | 4.7 cu ft | 5.3 cu ft | 5.0 cu ft |
| Air fry | "In both ovens" per LG | Listed among controls | Air Fry Mode with a basket |
| Power | Not on the page we read | 240 V, 40 A | 240 V, 40 A |
| Note | Check the current sheet | Sheet is for planning only | Abt marks it no longer available, replaced by the KOEC530SPS |
The KitchenAid's 1600 W is a cooking element, not a microwave power figure. Our wattage guide explains the difference. These specs date quickly, so ask the dealer for the current sheet.
Which oven space air fries?
An air fry mode in the upper microwave and one in a big lower oven are different things to cook with. LG says its unit does both. On the others, the documents we read don't settle it. Ask at the store, with the manual open. It matters more than the brand.
We found no controlled test of these ovens against a basket air fryer. Our combo versus basket page explains the same gap for countertop models.
What does installing one take?
- 240 V
- Voltage, Frigidaire GCWM3067AF
- 40 A
- Circuit, Frigidaire GCWM3067AF
- 28 1/2 in
- Minimum cutout width, same sheet
- 41 1/4 in
- Minimum cutout height, same sheet
- Cutout. Use the drawing for your exact model. Frigidaire's sheet is for planning only. A retailer lists the 27 in GCWM2767AF with a 24 7/8 in cutout width, so a nominal 27 in unit doesn't need a 27 in hole.
- Electrical. Check the circuit in your panel against the sheet, and have a qualified electrician make any change. Moving from a plug-in microwave to this is not a small job.
- Placement. The NKBA recommends at least 15 in of landing space next to or above an oven. It puts the bottom of a microwave 3 in below the main user's shoulder and no more than 54 in above the floor.
- Existing oven. If you are swapping an old wall oven, ask whether the new unit fits the old opening. Don't assume it does because both are 30 in.
Mistakes to avoid: comparing it with a countertop combo on features alone, assuming air fry works in both oven spaces, using total size as the size (the KOEC530PSS listing shows 6.4 cu ft in total, with a 1.4 cu ft microwave), and buying a discontinued model without asking about parts and warranty.
Where should I buy it?
Dealers and big-box stores. They can quote delivery, haul-away and installation together. We found no wall oven combo on Amazon that we would send you to. Our where to buy guide goes through the options. If a drawer appeals instead, see microwave drawers with air fry.
Is it right for me?
Buy this if you are already remodeling and want a full oven with a microwave above it. Otherwise it is a lot of work to get a crisping mode. A plug-in countertop combo is far less effort. See our best combos. LG shoppers can also see LG's other air fry models.

Quick questions
Do wall oven microwave combos have an air fryer?
Some do. LG says its WCEP6423F can air fry in both ovens. Frigidaire's sheet for the GCWM3067AF lists Air Fry among its controls, and a KitchenAid listing at Abt describes an air fry basket. Not every combo has it, so read the model's own sheet.
Can you air fry in the microwave part of a wall oven combo?
It depends on the model. LG describes an air fryer mode in its upper microwave and in its lower oven. Other sheets we read list air fry without saying which part runs it. Ask the dealer to show you in the manual.
What size wall oven microwave combos are there?
The widths we read are 30 in and 27 in. Frigidaire's 30 in GCWM3067AF is listed with a 1.7 cu ft microwave and a 5.3 cu ft oven. Measure your cutout, because the nominal width and the cutout are different numbers.
Is a combo the same as a double wall oven?
No. A combination wall oven has a microwave on top of one oven. A double wall oven has two ovens, with no microwave unless the sheet says so. Check the title and the sheet, since some listings mix them up.
Can I install a wall oven microwave combo myself?
We advise against it unless you are qualified. Frigidaire's sheet lists a 40 A circuit at 240 V and says it is for planning only. Have a qualified electrician handle the wiring, and let the dealer or an installer confirm the cutout before you order.
