LG Microwave Air Fryer: Over-the-Range Models and Countertop Alternatives
LG's microwave air fryer is an installed appliance, not a countertop one. The model people mean is the 1.7 cu ft over-the-range MHEC1737, in stainless (F) or black stainless (D). LG's US pages also show a built-in speed oven and a wall oven combo with air fry, but we found no LG countertop model with it. For a counter, look at another brand.

The short version
LG's main microwave air fryer is the MHEC1737F or D, a 1.7 cu ft over-the-range unit with a 950 W microwave, says LG. It replaces a range hood, so it needs installing. We found no LG countertop model with air fry on LG's US pages. For the counter, start with the Toshiba ML2-EC10SA.
What needs sorting out with LG is which of its products have air fry at all. Not set on LG? Start with our overview of all brands.
Which LG models have air fry?
| Model | Type | Air fry, says LG | What we read |
|---|---|---|---|
| MHEC1737F, MHEC1737D | Over-the-range, 1.7 cu ft | "Air fry crispy meals in your microwave" | LG's pages and 2022 sheets; owner's manual not read |
| MZBZ1715S | Built-in speed oven | "Air fry crispy meals with little to no oil" | LG's overview page only |
| WCEP6423F | Wall oven combo, 1.7 cu ft microwave and 4.7 cu ft oven | "Air fry crispy meals in both ovens" | LG's product page |
| MSER countertop models | Countertop, 0.9 to 2.0 cu ft | Not shown | LG's comparison chart |
LG Studio versions turn up on retailer pages, but we only saw those as search excerpts, so check the model number on any Studio listing with LG. For the wall oven route, see our wall oven combo page.
What are the MHEC1737 numbers?
These come from LG's builder sheet for the MHEC1737 family, dated 2022. LG's current product page confirms the size inside, the air fry and the two finishes, but not every line below.
- 1.7 cu ft
- Size inside, per LG
- 950 W
- Microwave output, per LG
- 300 CFM
- Vent fan, per LG
- 13.5 in
- Turntable, per LG
- Venting: roof, wall or room, says the sheet.
- Power: 120 V, a 3-prong plug and a 14 A minimum circuit rating.
- Opening: at least 30 in wide, with a 13 in maximum cabinet depth.
- In the box: glass turntable, metal tray and steam bowl.
- Warranty: 1 year on parts and labor and 10 years on the inverter part that does the microwaving, says LG's support page.
Sizes differ a little between LG's documents, as our over-the-range dimensions guide shows, so plan with the installation sheet for your model. Installing one involves the wall, the cabinet above and often a vent. Read our installation guide before you order.
Why it works
- The best-documented over-the-range model in our comparison, thanks to LG's builder sheet
- Two finishes, stainless and black stainless
- Convection and air fry without giving up counter space
Where it falls short
- It replaces your hood, so it is not a plug-in purchase
- We found no controlled test of its air frying
- Our Amazon price lookup returned nothing for it, so availability there is unclear
- We couldn't read the owner's manual for this page
Who should buy it?
Buy it if you already have an over-the-range microwave in a 30 in opening and want air fry in that same spot, or if your counter is full. Skip it if you rent or want a plug-in appliance. Still undecided? See over-the-range versus countertop.
Many people buy these from a dealer or big-box store, which can also quote delivery and installation. To compare stores, read where to buy a combo. Here is the Amazon listing for reference. It may not be in stock.

Where do I find the manual?

Quick questions
Does LG make a countertop microwave with air fry?
We found none. LG's US microwave page describes air fry on the over-the-range MHEC1737F and D and on the built-in MZBZ1715S. The countertop table in LG's comparison chart lists four models and has no air fry row. Models change, so check LG's site for news. Until then, a countertop combo means another brand.
How do I air fry in an LG microwave?
Follow the owner's manual for your exact model. LG's support page for the MHEC1737F offers an owner's manual PDF dated May 7, 2025, which we couldn't read for this page, so we won't guess at the racks or settings. LG's builder sheet lists Air Fry among eight auto cook options, and a metal tray among the accessories.
What is the difference between the MHEC1737F and MHEC1737D?
The finish, says LG's builder sheet. The F is PrintProof Stainless Steel and the D is PrintProof Black Stainless Steel. LG's product pages describe both as 1.7 cu ft over-the-range convection models with air fry. Check that your listing shows the suffix you want, because prices and stock can differ.
How much power does the LG MHEC1737 use?
LG's builder sheet says 950 W of microwave output, 1,550 W of convection output and a minimum circuit rating of 14 A at 120 V. That sheet carries a 2022 copyright, so check the current installation guide for your model before you plan the wiring. Have an electrician make any changes.
