KitchenAid Microwave With Air Fry: Over-the-Range Models and Who Should Buy

Buy a KitchenAid microwave with air fry if you are replacing the microwave above your stove. Skip it if you just want to add air frying to your counter. Models like the 1.9 cu ft KMHC319 and the 1.1 cu ft KMMF730 are fixed installations. For a plug-in, we recommend the Panasonic HomeChef.

The short version

KitchenAid's air fry microwaves are mostly over-the-range units. Dealers list the KMHC319 at 1.9 cu ft and 1200 W, and the KMMF730 at 1.1 cu ft and 950 W. Both come with a basket, per those dealers. They need installing, so ask a dealer. For a counter, we recommend the Panasonic HomeChef instead.

What is on this page

Most KitchenAid air fry microwaves hang above the stove and double as a range hood. That is a different purchase from a countertop box. KitchenAid's own product pages would not load for us, so the specs below come from dealers.

Abt marks the KMHC319LSS as no longer available, so ask a dealer what they can supply. Town Appliance also shows a second power figure (1,000), so check the rating with the seller.

The KMMF730 page says it fits a standard 12 3/4 in cabinet cutout. It is shallower than the KMHC319, so you get less room inside. Our page on over-the-range sizes shows how to measure.

Good Housekeeping's April 2026 roundup names a KitchenAid over-the-range convection microwave as its best over-the-range pick. It gives no model number, so we don't tie that pick to one model.

How do I air-fry in it?

KitchenAid's help page gives these steps for its over-the-range models:

  1. Set up the basket

Open the folding feet and center the basket on the turntable. Turn the turntable to check that it does not touch the wall.
  2. Choose a program

Touch Air Fry, enter the weight or servings, and confirm. Put in the basket and food when prompted.
  3. Cook and turn

Press Start, and turn the food when prompted. Use mitts, and don't hold the basket by its feet.

In manual mode, the default is 425°F, and you can set 400 to 450°F. KitchenAid suggests 400°F for fresh vegetables, 425°F for fresh meat and 450°F for frozen and breaded food. The countertop page on KitchenAid's help site lists different settings, so go by the manual for your model.

KitchenAid also names built-in microwaves and 27 in wall ovens with air fry. We couldn't read those pages, so we name no model. Our pages on built-in microwaves and wall oven combos explain what to check.

Is it right for me?

Why it works

  • Air fry above the stove, with no counter space used
  • Good Housekeeping's over-the-range pick is a KitchenAid
  • Clear air fry steps and temperatures from KitchenAid

Where it falls short

  • Fixed installation, usually by a professional
  • Dealer data only; we could not read KitchenAid's product pages
  • No published comparison with a basket fryer

Buy it if you already have an over-the-range spot and want to replace the unit. Good Housekeeping says these models should usually be installed by a professional, and any change to wiring or venting needs a qualified installer. Home Depot, Lowe's or a local dealer is often the better route. We don't link a KitchenAid listing on Amazon because none was confirmed. Our over-the-range guide covers fit and buying.

Skip it if you just want to add air fry. A countertop combo plugs in and needs no installer.

Quick questions

How do I air-fry in a KitchenAid microwave?

On over-the-range models, KitchenAid's help page says to touch Air Fry, enter the weight or servings, and confirm. Put in the basket and food when prompted, press Start, and turn the food when prompted. Check the manual for your exact model, as settings differ.

Does the KitchenAid microwave come with an air fry basket?

Per the dealer pages we read, yes for both models. Abt lists an air-fry basket and a steamer container for the KMHC319LSS. Town Appliance lists a basket, a crisper pan and a flat rack for the KMMF730PBE. Confirm with your seller, since included parts can vary.

Does KitchenAid make a countertop microwave with air fry?

KitchenAid's help site has an air fry page for countertop microwaves. It names no models, and we could not open KitchenAid's product pages, so we can't name one. Look for the sticker inside your microwave, or ask KitchenAid for the model list.

Is the KitchenAid microwave air fryer worth it?

It is if you want an over-the-range unit anyway. Good Housekeeping named a KitchenAid its best over-the-range pick, but we found no controlled test against a basket fryer. If you are replacing a hood-style microwave, take a look at a dealer.
